Wow, It's so hard to believe that I've been living here for seven days! The city is amazing and we are meeting so many students from other majors! Orientation was an interesting four day experience with getting our stay legalized by the city, meeting with a policeman, doctor, and cell phone provider. We also learned some key phrases and traveled around to the post office, train station, and markets. My phone is not liking the sim card so I'm going to have to go and get one of their phones unfortunately.
After our last day of orientation, we took an afternoon trip to Fiesole with Professor Thal! It was a good trip to the tiny town that overlooks Firenze! We saw some amazing views, little parks, and visited a working monastery. There are some great photos from that day trip as well! At the end of the trip we said goodbye to Professor Thal and wished him a safe trip back to the U.S.A. the following day. He helped us through adjusting to Florence and international travel and we are so grateful for everything he taught us. We told him many times that he would miss us when he got back and would wish he had stayed.
On Sunday, we slept late and then the boys came over for a second pasta dinner, this time it was a recipe from Anna!
Today was the first day of classes. We met our Architecture and Media Professor Marco Brizzi who showed us some really neat graphics and videos about architecture! I'm really excited for this class already although it may end up being a bit of a challenge with our projects! Today is also Sam's birthday, so everyone else is out eating sushi currently. But it's quite nice to be in the apartment alone after living with one other person for the past year and living with four girls who live the complete opposite way I do all of a sudden. It's an experience for sure!
We are planning to go to Ikea on Wednesday to get some things for the apartment that we didn't bring, it's a bit nerve-racking because we have to take a bus there and back by ourselves, no Professor Thal this time like with Fiesole!
That's all for now! We have our first studio meeting tomorrow!
Ciao!
